Your Holiday Skin Countdown: What to Book and When

December fills up fast. Holiday parties, family photos, a work dinner, maybe a trip somewhere warm.

The most common mistake I see this time of year isn't picking the wrong treatment. It's picking the right one at the wrong time. A peel three days before photos means flaking in every picture. Here's how to work backward from your date.

6 to 8 weeks out: the deeper work

This is the window for anything that needs recovery time or works in a series.

  • Peels and the Green Sea Peel. Your skin needs time to shed and settle. Most peels look their best two to three weeks after, once the new skin has evened out.
  • Microneedling. Collagen takes weeks to rebuild, so this is a long game. If you start now you'll have one, maybe two sessions in before the holidays.
  • Acne care. If breakouts are the thing you're worried about, start now. Clearing skin takes consistency over months, and the first few weeks can include some purging.

3 to 4 weeks out: your Brazilian

Wax a few weeks before an event and then again the week of, and your second wax will be quicker and smoother. Hair that's been waxed recently grows back finer and on a more even schedule, so the closer appointment goes better. This matters most if you're heading somewhere warm over break.

1 to 2 weeks out: a facial for glow

A hydrating facial a week or so ahead gives any extractions time to calm down while leaving you with skin that looks rested in photos. If you only have time for one appointment this season, this is the one I'd choose.

2 days out: spray tan

Book your tan two days before, so the color has fully developed and had one or two showers to soften. Wax and do your nails before the tan, never after.

The week of: don't try anything new

No new serums, no new retinol, no new "miracle" mask from a holiday gift set. Your skin is used to what you're using. Introducing something the week of an event is the most reliable way I know to get a surprise breakout or a red patch.

If your event is next week

You still have options. Skip anything that peels, get a gentle facial focused on hydration, drink water, get as much sleep as you can, and put your SPF on even when it's gray. Gray Oregon days still have plenty of UV.

If you're not sure what fits your timeline, email me your date at oregonglowcs@gmail.com and I'll map it out with you. Evening spots are open through December, and you can book online here.
