Spray Tanning with Oregon Glow

How do I prep for a spray tan?

24-48 HOURS BEFORE:

Exfoliate and shave. Exfoliate your entire body with a natural body scrub or mitt. We recommend a coffee scrub! If you have old spray tan or at home tanner on you MUST exfoliate it off before your appointment. It will look splotchy and uneven if you don't.

YOU CANNOT GET A SPRAY TAN IF YOU HAVE A SUNBURN. YOUR TAN WILL PEEL OFF IF YOU HAVE RECENTLY BURNED. Wait until your sunburn has healed and is no longer peeling.

Scrub your underarms to remove deodorant build up.

If you are getting a Mani/Pedi it should be scheduled at least 24 hours prior.

All waxing services should be scheduled at least 24 hours prior.

Stop using Dove, Dial and Olay soap ASAP. We have recommendations for spray tan safe soaps and lotions.

DAY OF APPOINTMENT

Remove all product from your skin the day of your appointment. Your skin should be free of lotion, fragrance, makeup, and deodorant.

With ^^ all that being said, please do not shower before your appointment. If you have to rinse off lotions, do so (without soaps, no shaving) at least 4 hours before your appointment.

Wear dark, loose-fitting clothing. Swest pants, sweat shirt and fuzzy socks with slides is the perfect outfit.

How do I MAINTAIN MY spray tan?

STAY HYDRATED & MOISURIZED

The more hydrated your skin is, the better your tan will look. Lotion 2x a day with a spray tan friendly lotion (no mineral oil). We recommend a body butter with cocoa butter or shea butter as a main ingredient!

FUTURE SHOWERS

Avoid using any loofahs or washcloths during your showers. A clear, gel based body wash is best, or a hydrating bar soap (NOT DOVE!) We carry spray tan friendly soap that is designed to extend the life of your spray tan.

ACTIVITY CHECK

Avoid pools & hot tubs for long periods of time, long hot showers/baths, saunas, and excessive sweating. Your tan will not last very long if you plan on doing these things.

Skip intense workouts for 24 hours. After that, wear loose clothing and use a towel

FAQ :

IT'S MY FIRST SPRAY TAN - WHAT SHOULD I EXPECT?

Each appointment begins with a full client consultation to ensure we are giving you exactly the tan you are expecting! We'll review prep, aftercare, and product recommendations.

HOW LONG DOES A SPRAY TAN LAST?

A spray tan looks its best during the first five days, and typically lasts seven to ten days with proper prep and aftercare. With a tan extending lotion, your spray tan can last up to two weeks. With proper prep and maintenance, your spray tan should fade away evenly around the seven to ten day mark.

HOW MANY DAYS BEFORE MY EVENT SHOULD I SCHEDULE MY APPOINTMENT?

We suggest getting your spray tan two days before your your big event and one day before leaving for a vacation. (Don't worry busy bee, three days before is OK!)

SHOULD I DO MY SPRAY TAN BEFORE OR AFTER...

Your spray tan is the last thing you want to do in your beauty regime an glam prep! We recommend booking your mani/pedi, wax and massage appointments 24-48 hours before your spray tan.

WHAT DO I WEAR DURING?

What you wear during the spray tan is completely up to you and your comfort level! Most of our clients opt to wear a bathing suit bottom or thong. You may choose to go topless (most clients do!). We provide hair nets, hair ties, disposable thongs, nipple covers, barrier lotion, wipes and nose filters.

HOW DO I EXFOLIATE?

Exfoliating is an important step in preperation for your tan to ensure the tan develops and fades evenly. 24-48 hours before your spray tan, use a body scrub or exfoliating mitt in the shower. Please avoid oily scrubs like Tree Hut that will leave a residue on your skin.

WHAT IS THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN A CLASSIC AND A RAPID RINSE SPRAY TAN?

The only difference between these two spray tans is the amount of time you must wait to rinse off the cosmetic bronzers. The Classic must be left on for 8 -12 hours before rinsing. The Rapid allows you to rinse between 1-5 hours, depending on intended darkness.

PLEASE NOTE: Rapid Rinse does not mean rapid development. Both spray tans take a full 18-24 hours to fully develop color. Both tans have light-dark options.

IS A SPRAY TAN SAFE FOR EXPECTANT MOMS?

Yes! We use solution with organic and naturally-derived ingredients. We provide nose filters and extraction fan to eliminate overspray. Our solution is  Paraben-free, Gluten-free, Sulfate-free, Nut-allergen free, Propylene Glycol-free, Phthalates-free, and Synthetic fragrance-free making it safe on expectant mothers. It is still important to consult your physician before starting anything new.

CAN I STILL GET A SUNBURN OR NATURAL TAN WITH A SPRAY TAN?

YES! ABSOLUTELY! The only thing that will protect your skin from the sun is SPF.

** A spray tan does not contain SPF and is NOT a base!**

Your skin is delicate, and you already did one thing right for it by getting a safe, sunless tan. Don't backtrack with a sunburn!

HOW DOES SPRAY TAN SOLUTION WORK?

What you see on your skin immediately after your spray tan is just cosmetic bronzer. The DHA (dihydroxyacetone) in the solution, which is basically a glucose derivative, is what turns your skin brown and mimics a real tan from the sun. DHA reacts with amino acids on just the top layer of your skin. When this reaction occurs, the skin cells turn several shades darker. This is a completely safe process! During your skin's natural exfoliation cycle, the dead skin cells will shed off, which results in a fading spray tan.

HOW OLD DO I NEED TO BE TO GET A SPRAY TAN?

Anyone under the age of 18 must have a parents written consent and parent present for the service. You must be at least 12 to get sprayed.
